Guidance on raising concerns about abuse and neglect
A multi-agency working group has developed guidance for practitioners and providers about safeguarding concerns. The aim of this guidance is to support the appropriate reporting of concerns and free up valuable time so that the focus can be on situations that require a safeguarding enquiry.
This guidance has been created following a suggestion from the Peer Review of adult safeguarding in East Sussex in March 2018. One of the areas highlighted, was the need for development in greater confidence and consistency in deciding when an issue is a safeguarding concern or not. The guidance has drawn upon versions produced by several other Safeguarding Adults Boards nationally. Supplementary guidance has been developed in relation to three specific areas – falls, medication errors and incidents between adults in a service.
